Dr. MacEwan treats a wide variety of cancer types in collaboration with oncologists at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital.  

Dr. MacEwan completed his training at Loma Linda University Medical Center, the first hospital-based Proton Center in the United States. Over the past decade, he has treated thousands of patients, both adult and pediatric. His research interests include the use of proton therapy in Pediatric and Gastrointestinal malignancies. He has published on various pediatric malignancies, including medulloblastoma and Wilm’s tumor. Most notably, he published on the role of proton craniospinal irradiation in children with medulloblastoma to reduce acute and long-term toxicities. He also treats adult patients with gastrointestinal, breast, lung, pancreas, gynecologic, head & neck, prostate, central nervous system (CNS) malignancies, and primary and metastatic liver tumors.  Dr. MacEwan is proud to treat cancer patients at UC San Diego, Rady Children’s Hospital and California Protons, collaborating to offer the best treatment plans possible for his patients.  His hobbies including spending time with his family, surfing, golfing, and exploring hard to get to locations in the local mountains and desert.
