NAPT HONORS CONGRESSMAN SCOTT PETERS WITH INAUGURAL CHAMPION AWARD FOR PROTON THERAPY ADVOCACY
The National Association for Proton Therapy (NAPT), the nation’s leading organization dedicated to increasing patient access to proton therapy, today announced it has awarded its inaugural Champion Award to U.S. Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA) for his steadfast efforts to safeguard patient access to proton therapy.

California Protons Celebrates 5th Anniversary with the Treatment of its 4,000th Patient
California Protons Cancer Therapy Center celebrated its 5th Anniversary with the treatment of its 4,000th patient with proton therapy. Protons stop at the tumor site and do not travel past it, resulting in less radiation dose to surrounding healthy tissues and organs, and a decrease in side effects and risks of secondary cancers.

SAN DIEGO, CA – As of May 2019, California Protons Cancer Therapy Center is now affiliated with UC San Diego Health Cancer Network, giving more patients access to world-class, lifesaving proton therapy treatment provided by radiation oncologists from Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, San Diego’s only National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Judge Recuses Himself from UnitedHealthcare Proton Therapy Lawsuits
Modern Healthcare reports that at least two lawsuits have been filed against UnitedHealthcare in the last two months alleging the insurance company improperly denied patients coverage for a certain type of cancer treatment that insurers have long been reluctant to pay for.

SAN DIEGO, CA – California Protons Cancer Therapy Center today announced two major efforts representing significant steps forward in breast cancer treatment research involving its noninvasive, targeted proton therapy. Current California Protons patients as of Feb. 4, 2019, are invited to enroll in the Proton Collaborative Group (PCG) Registry of more than 13,000 patients. Separately, the PCG BRE007-12 Partial Breast Irradiation in early stage breast cancer clinical trial will enroll around five to eight females per year.
