Learn MoreI was 69-years-old, it had been 18 months since my last complete physical exam. My PSA had gone from 3.2 to 5.3. My family physician stated he would refer me to an urologist. At that appointment a digital rectal exam was performed and a biopsy was recommended. Twelve core samples were taken and tested positive for cancer. I was given a Gleason score of 4+4=8 on a scale of 1 to 10. The cancer stage was determined to be a 2 on a scale of 1 to 4.
My neighbor had recently gone through the proton treatment at Loma Linda University Hospital and recommended their program. I called their facility and received an introduction package. Included was the book “You Can Beat Prostate Cancer” by Robert J. Marckini, and a booklet of former patients willing to answer questions. I called those with Gleason scores of 8, who’d had the procedure performed 8 to 15 years before. More than one recommended Dr. Carl Rossi, however he was no longer at that facility. I searched him out on the Internet and consulted with him.
My wife and I did meet Dr. Rossi at California Protons and were impressed by the superior technology utilized, the courteous staff, and Dr. Rossi himself. I was accepted into their program and had no pain and very minimal side effects throughout my treatment. I am very pleased and would recommend the facility and modality very highly.
